Media player upgrade required

This article applies to:

  • WinWay Resume Deluxe 6.0 or later


When playing video content, you are instructed to upgrade your video player.  The video player is already upgraded to the version indicated in the message.

Windows 10 Users

  1. Certain versions of Windows 10 do not include the media player. 
  2. Please follow Microsoft's instructions for adding it.

Windows XP Users

  1. Select Start, Controls Panel, Add/remove programs
  2. In the "Add or resume programs" window, left column, click on "Add/remove Windows Components"
  3. Unchceck the item "Windows Media Player"
  4. Click "next"
  5. Upon completion of the changes, reboot the computer
  6. Repeat steps 1 through 4, this time check the "Windows Media Player" item
  7. If the problem persits, visit and install the latest updates

Windows Vista Users

  • The problem may be caused by an incorrect entry in the registry, which registers "mplayer2.exe" instead of the newer "wmplayer.exe".
  • To correct the problem, click on the link below.  When prompted, choose "run", "allow", "continue", "yes", "ok":
