Network Installation Instructions (v10)

Network vs. stand-alone installation

If your computers are on a network, we strongly recommend that you install the the program on the network server. This allows all the computers to share the same set of files from the server. The Network installation is easier to manage, saves disk spaced, and allows the administrator to maintain and update the program in one central location.

If your computers are not on a network, use the "stand alone" configuration.

Network Installation

Congratulations for your purchase of WinWay Resume 9.0 Network Edition. The network version will support as many users as allowed by your license, and will allow all of them to enjoy all the features of this extensive product. Please read the installation instructions carefully!

Step 1 - Install on the Server

  1. You may install from the server itself or from another computer with write access to the server
  2. Insert the WinWay Resume CD ROM into the CD drive. Note that the network version is shipped on the same CD-ROM as the single-user version. However, network installation requires a special serial number.
  3. On your computer select Start, Run, and type in the following command line (replace "d" with your CD-ROM drive letter) :
    d:\setup.exe -a
  4. You will be greeted by the "License Key" dialog.
  5. If you are connected to the Internet, click on "Network version online help" for the most recent update to these instructions
  6. Enter your license key and follow the instructions on the screen

Step 2 - Install on the Clients

  1. From each client station, run "Setup.exe" from the WinWay Resume folder created in step 1 on the server. Verify that the program works correctly
  2. During the first time you run the program on each computer, it will ask you if you want to register the software. Select "no" since the software was already registered at the time of purchase. This message will not appear again.

Stand-alone Installation

Please follow these instructions to copy the whole program, including video and sound, to the hard drive of a single PC. This will allow you to store-away the CD-ROM and use all features of the program from this PC.

  1. Insert the WinWay Resume CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. If the installation starts automatically, click on "Install" And skip to step 5

  2. Double click on "My Computer"

  3. Right click on the CD-ROM icon and select Explore

  4. Double click on the file named "setup.exe"

  5. Follow the instructions on the screen and click "Next" as needed until you are asked to choose "COMPLETE" or "CUSTOM". Choose "CUSTOM"

  6. Click on the "Down arrow" next to "Video and Sound" and choose "This feature will be installed on the hard drive"

  7.  Click "NEXT" and follow the instructions on the screen.

  8. When installation is complete, select Start, Run, WinWay, WinWay Resume Deluxe to start the program.

  9. You'll see a prompt asking whether you wish to register the software. Select "No" since the software is already registered. This message will not appear again.
